Amanda Marie
Full Spectrum Doula, Reiki Practitioner, Massage and Craniosacral Therapist
LMBT #19415
Amanda’s passion for women's work has grown out of her own experience in the birth world and beyond. After having a depressive and traumatic c-section she has had three home VBACs. What really made a difference and helped her to achieve her pleasurable birth was the support of women that have had similar experiences and who could support her and believe in her. The rhetoric that is so currently widespread in our society, that childbirth is a traumatic experience, simply isn't true. She has learned from both sides and from each birth, developing skills along the way to help herself and others. She received DONA training in 2009 in Gainesville, FL, where she also studied with a Reiki master. The mountains called her here in 2018 and she fell in love with this mystical place. Delving into moon/menstrual magic, art therapy, and yoga, she intends to help other women find their complete empowerment. She also hosts periodical womens circles. She believes when women join in sisterhood and compassion they can change their community.

Brandi Harrison (she/her)
BS, IBCLC, Birth & Postpartum Doula, Photographer
With little confidence in her own body and even less guidance from experienced women in her life, she experienced a traumatic first birth and postpartum period. Breastfeeding was painful and Brandi sought to understand why she did not meet her breastfeeding goals. After her second child was born, Brandi came into a circle of women who supported her and brought forth knowledge, experience and encouragement. This time, Brandi had a life-changing experience with breastfeeding and knew that she wanted to devote her life to helping other mamas reach their goals too. With her third child, Brandi finally got the birth that she knew she needed to heal from her previous experiences, and at this point she was already in school to become a lactation consultant. She has since had a fourth baby, born peacefully at home in the water, surrounded by family, doulas and siblings.
Brandi graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Maternal Child Health: Lactation Consulting in 2016 and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2017. Brandi is a DONA trained birth doula, and continues to serve the mothers and babies of Western North Carolina. Brandi’s passions lie in all things birth and breastfeeding, but she also holds a deep love for pregnancy and breastfeeding photography and social justice issues. Brandi is employed by Harris Regional Hospital as an IBCLC, and also by North Carolina State University on the MILK research team as an IBCLC mentor and preceptor. Brandi is also the incoming chairperson of the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition.

Brit is a postpartum doula who is passionate about supporting new families in the early weeks or months following birth. Brit provides compassionate and nurturing support to families as they learn how to navigate their “new normal” by offering evidence-based guidance related to newborn care, as well as preparing nutritious meals, offering a listening ear for emotional support, providing light housekeeping, and much more. Candace Anthony
BA, Full Spectrum Doula, Certified Clinical Herbalist,
Placenta Encapsulator, Organic Farmer at Chrysalis Earth Farm
Candace has spent the past decade expanding her understanding of the human body, health, disease, nutrition, plants, natural remedies, agriculture and folk and ancestral wisdoms. She is dedicated to providing natural health and birth support to her community that is based in both the most contemporary research and in traditional, ancestral knowledge, with the goal of supporting her clients and community to be empowered in their birth and health goals.
Candace first arrived in WNC in 2004 to study at Warren Wilson College where she came to see that her big picture goal was to do work that brought healing to humans. After completing her BA in Anthropology, she set off to Southern Oregon and Northern California where she spent two years apprenticing on organic farms, a year becoming certified in Clinical Energetic Herbalism from The Blue Otter School of Herbal Medicine, and also where she met the love of her life.
The southern mountains called again, and Candace and her partner Justin returned to this region with the goal of starting a farm. They both studied for three years with Herbalist Phyllis Light and received certificates as Practitioners of Herbal Medicine. They became pregnant and moved onto their new farm in Balsam the day before their son was born at home with the presence of Certified Professional Midwives and a few close friends.
Candace was really impressed by the powerful experience that is birth. Birth experiences, positive and negative are both equally powerful; birth is inherently powerful. That understanding drove her to seek out doula training and in 2016 she became certified as a Matrona Holistic Doula. She sees her role as a doula as that of helping pregnant people and families make informed decisions that are most likely to lead each birthing mother to a positive experience of the power of birth.

Christal Green
BS, Birth Doula
BS, Birth Doula
Christal was born and raised in Charlotte, NC before moving to the mountains to pursue her education at WCU. She graduated from WCU with a BS in Audiology/Speech Pathology. After graduating, she worked in the Healthcare Industry for several years in a variety of capacities. She has always had a passion for people and for being able to communicate effectively. After she completed her schooling, she started a family and became a stay at home mother to her beautiful children, Chela, Griffin, Landon and Sadie, who are her greatest blessings.
Her passion for birth work began in a very organic way. In 2021 she found herself surrounded by friends who were pregnant at the same time. Christal pursued becoming a DONA trained Birth Doula when her best friend sparked this interest, as she wanted Christal to support her during her birth. However, the only way Christal could offer support in the peak of the pandemic was to become a doula. The rest is history.
Christal believes there is nothing greater than to experience the miracle of birth. She is here to support women in the capacity that they want and to make sure that their birth is a beautiful experience to look back on. What a privilege it is to be invited into such a sacred place. She is honored to work alongside and serve families as they bring their new child into the world.

Heather Renee Noren (she/her/hers)
Certified Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, Postpartum Doula Certified Yoga Instructor
Heather Renee’s journey into birthwork formally began in August 2015 where she was trained and certified through BirthArts International in Philadelphia, PA. Heather Renee feels her role, as a birth doula, is to provide a safe environment for people to give birth; to create a loving space for a birthing person’s voice in decision making, and to help birthing families feel supported throughout the duration of their pregnancy and birth.
In her seven years as a birth worker she has assisted over 50 families through the process of prenatal education, birth support, and postpartum care. Her passion lies in person-centered care, physiological birth, autonomy, and informed consent so that all have the right to a dignified, safe birthing experience. Being heavily engaged in reproductive justice and activism with a focus on health equity, Heather Renee has had the opportunity to serve as a panelist for UPenn’s Harm Reduction and Reproductive Care for Nursing Students, has mentored under Britt McCollumn in physiological birth, and has engaged in numerous outreach efforts for expanding access to doulas.
Since making the move to North Carolina in 2020, she has returned to nursing school in order to pursue Nurse-Midwifery. Aside from her work as a Birth Doula, Heather Renee also offers one-on-one Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga instruction, Postpartum Doula Services, and Childbirth Education. When not attending births or assisting families, you can find Heather Renee studying to become a registered nurse, teaching community yoga, enjoying all things outdoors, and cultivating relationships with various regional herbs.

Victoria Long (she/her)
Birth and Postpartum Doula,
Certified VBAC Doula (CVD, TVL)
Victoria is a DONA trained doula and is a certified VBAC doula through the VBAC Link. Newly postpartum herself, she is specifically passionate about helping parents in their postpartum phase after a planned or unplanned cesarean.
Victoria’s passions regarding doula work all stemmed from her own birth experience. Her first perinatal experience was physically and emotionally traumatic, with a difficult pregnancy, unplanned cesarean, and a slow recovery made more difficult with PPA and PPD.
She did a lot of healing work, and she had a completely opposite experience with her second baby. Though she decided to have a planned cesarean due to an abnormality with her umbilical cord, her doula helped her feel at peace during pregnancy and the birth. Planning for consistent postpartum support made recovery much easier, both physically and mentally.
As she has worked to physically heal her body from her pregnancy and birth trauma, she has become increasingly passionate about helping others heal. Which includes giving support during the postpartum phase.
